Living with Diabetes

I am a 62 yr old diabetic man who was recently fired from a job by a company who does not lay people off. They fire them so that they don’t have to pay unemployment.

It is also a regrettable fact that I did not take care of myself responsibly when I had healthcare insurance. No I am on my own with severe peripheral neuropathy AND diabetes.

The pain is constant, stabbing and accompanied by random sensations of numbness and sometimes itching. It hurts to pet my poor dog.

My doctor prescribed Depakote for me in the hope that it would ease the pain which is unrelenting. I have been taking it as directed for about a month and it has given me a small amount of relief. As I am unable to afford my prescriptions, I have only been marginally successful in ameliorating the origin of my illness which is diabetes.

If there are any diabetics out there who are poorly motivated to take care of themselves as best as they can, remember my story. This is hell on earth. The only upside to all of this is that I am shortening my time in purgatory after I die.
