Last year I got diagnosed with polyneuropathy of the femoral lateral cuteaneous nerve, or the big nerve in my thigh. I felt like I’d been hit by a truck! I almost ended up in a wheelchair and the pain clinic sent me to a pain therapy group, which was good at first but half way thru I got sick of the “poor me” attitude, so I left. I just rode it out and thank god it subsided after 9 long months. However it has returned but this time with the onset of rheumatoid arthritis which as an auto immune disease we are prone to. So between the neuropathy and painful arthritis in my ankles, getting exercise has been a struggle and I’ve put on heaps of weight but at least I’ve still got me legs! October 2009
