Me have a siezure??

by: Laura on Wed, May 28 2008

I have always been as healthy as a horse…but last week I had a siezure. It was the scariest thing I have ever expereinced. I started to lose my speech, then I lost all breath, conscienceness , and finally started convulsing and foaming at the mouth!! After going to the ER, and having a CT scan, blood work, and hooked up to an ekg they said “you are severly dehydrated.” The prewvious day I spend 8 hours on the boat in the sun drinking. What a perfect explanation. After doing research online, I leardned about electrolyte imbalance, which is a major cause for siezures! and is caused by dehydration. I have lost very little mobility and control of the nerves and muscles in my hand (due to the siezure) but I will tell you now, I go no where without a bottle of water and gatorade (which is full of electorlytes). So if you are reading this, tell your friends and family, expecially ones who drink. Beer dehaydrates you badly, and it is no joke!!
