Hematuria

As a result of a routine physical in 2005 my urinalysis showed a trace amount of blood in my urine. Nearly five years later on two separate occasions, the microscopic blood in my urine sample was “heavy”.

My doctor ordered an ultrasound of my liver, kidneys, and spleen which all subsequently checked out normal. At this point a Cystoscopy was ordered and conducted. Again, the urinary tract, prostate, and inner bladder wall were all normal. No signs of bladder tumors or kidney stones and my prostate was normal/unremarkable. From here a CT scan was ordered and conducted with the kidneys and liver being contrasted with an iodine-based solution. Again, the results were normal with no abnormalities or growths, infections, etc%u2026. I do not experience any pain while urinating nor do I have frequent urges to empty my bladder. I do not experience fevers or chills and I have had no pain in my abdomen or flanks.

In the summer of 2004 I began taking aspirin. Additionally, in 2005 I began a strict regimen of juicing (fresh organic fruits and veggies). One of the vegetables I used in almost all of my juices was beets. Sometimes I would juice the beets by themselves. Beets I have come to learn are very powerful and very potent vegetables with qualities that cleanse and detox the liver and kidneys. In addition to the juicing, I was also (occasionally) drinking herbal teas such as burdock root and dandelion. I did have a lingering sinus infection for the majority of the 2009 calendar year. I eventually was given an antibiotic to treat the infection (Biaxinnot sure if this is spelled right??)

I have recently discontinued juicing (at least to the extent I was juicing before) and stopped taking aspirin about 2 months after I started. I am no longer drinking the herbal teas and I have stepped up my exercise routine and I am using a Neti-pot to control my allergy symptoms.

I will have my urine checked again in one-year and let you all know the results. I should caveat my intentions for a subsequent urine test by saying I will visit my doctor sooner if I experience any of the pain or symptoms that I detailed earlier.

Best of luck to you all and I’ll check back with you soon!
