To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download HUS induced by NSAIDS? My daughter who is now 6 years old has had two mild cases of HUS in the past year. Her first was at the age of 5 and was in the hospital for 4 days. The second case was 8 months later and was in the hospital for a week (this was 4 months ago). Call it a mothers instinct but it dawned on me in both cases she caught a stomach flu and fever and I had been giving her ibuprofen and gravol for approx 48 hours (in proper doses) before symptoms of dark urine appeared. We have sent her blood to Italy to be tested and although they are not complete we have received the bulk of results which show that both factor H and MCP genes are normal (there is no mutation). Factor I and TTP results have not been delivered yet. I had assumed it was the ibuprofen before even receiving the blood results. I contacted a friend who is a doctor in Boston and when asked what do you know about ibuprofen induced HUS he said more common in children than adults. I am researching on the internet and finding a lot of information but at the same time feel I am limited to info so if you have a story to share that is similar I would appreciate it. August 2008
