well I am a women and im 37 years old. I never suspected that i would get a kidney stone. I had heard of them but thought nothing of them. I started having some trouble urinating and kept feeling like I had a UTI I went to the doctor repeatedly only to be told no you dont have a UTI I finally went to a urologist who ran some tests and said i think you have over active bladder. Well 2 days later i had to leave work early because my stomach hurt and my lower back hurt. Through the night the pain got worse. My husband being a nurse and knowing my high pain tolerance gave me a shot of pain medication which helped for awhile. The next morning the pain came back with such intensity that i could not evene stand straight i was crying and thrashing around. My hubby took me to ER and I begged them to give me something this pain is worse than than giving birth to my kids. At this point i didnt know what was wrong all i knew is i was in pain and I couldnt urinate. The doctor came in and ordered morphine and finally relief came I went for a CT scan and the diagnosis was a kidney stone causing a blockage. I went home with lots of pain medicine anda strainer to wait it out. It took me a week to pass the stone. Everytime I get a twinge of pain I worry is this another stone? I go back to see my urologist next week to have some more tests run.
