kidney stones

by: BB on Mon, Jun 23 2008

My husbands has had undiagnosable penile pain interminently for 8-10 years. It increased in frequency the last few years. He is in NYC region and has been to 8 urologists and 2 internists. I was afraid of something warning him of major dangerous development. Finally the 7th urologists Kat scanned his kidneys and surpisingly confirmed he had 4 kidney stones He could not believe that his wife (me) was the one who referred him in to his office (a very reputable one, NYU Urological) When he woke up recently in lower tract pain, could not get rid of it, I called his internist who confirmed after another kat scan and blood analysis it was the kidney stones (at least we were not panic striken while waiting the reults). More interesting. After a penile sonogram, during the resulting pain something felt like it moved. Nothing showed up unual in the sonagram, but the pain has since not been reoccuring so severly or so often. He also had stopped taking Flomax. I don’t think too many people realize that there is serious research going on evaluating Flomax and its effect on breaking down stones. My conclusion, and confirmed likely by some of these researchers is that he was passing small granulars which caused the penile pain. This possibility was not offered by anyway, but the urologist seemed to acknowledge that it could have been that or a prostate stone (granular). Have fun with this accessment. No one admitted to anyone ever having this problem and all claimed he had a very unusual problem. Believe me it was not psychomatic.
