Six year old boy with Nephrotic Syndrome

My son (who is six and is a twin) was diagnosed with NS 3 weeks ago after we returned from a holiday in Florida (we live in Dublin, Ireland). I kept noticing his eyes swelling up in the mornings and also the rest of his body. He is now on 45mg of predisone (steroids) daily and has already had 3 nights in hospital on an albumin drip due to severe swelling in his groin area. He is doing well apart from hunger and mood swings from the steroids. My concern is when he is being weaned of the steroids that NS may come back. lets hope this episode was just a once off but after reading other people’s stories I seriously doubt this!! All I can do is look after him as much as possible and hope for a cure in the near future…
