KIDNEY TRANSPLANT AND AFTER

by: Varghese T V on Tue, Aug 07 2007

I am now 42. At the age of 29 I was diagnosed with ESRD. I underwent dialysis for one year and end of the year I got transplant. Now it is 12 years. Since my tranplant I am on immuno suppressive medications. I got a second chance in life but with misery. Going to hospital every week, various blood evaluations, consuming a pharmacy of medicines every day etc…

Now I see that my creatinine levels are gratually increasing. How come my transplanted kidney bear all these burden of medicines for these long years. My experience is that there is no cure for any major disease. The world has developed, the technology has improved but not the medicines. For example, there is no permanent cure for Cancer, Heart trouble, kidney failure, diabetics, high blood pressure HIV etc.. Some diseases can be controlled on life long medicines. But is it a permanent cure? I am now facing lot of health issues due to the side effects of medicines. I don’t know how long I have to suffer this. Medical world is helplessly trying medicines one after another. My condition is deteriorating.
