Colorectal caner

Hi my name is Michelle and i am 37. I was 33 when I was diagnosed with stage 3 anal cancer that had spread to my colon and lymph nodes in 2004. I underwent 3 months chemo and 28 radiation treatments before I had surgery in Aug. 2004 and 10 months of chemo after surgery.

I am now going into my fourth year of being cancer free. They tell you that you have to be cancer free for 5 years before you can say that you are cured.

The only two things that helped me get through all of the treatments and the surgery was my faith in God and my family especially my children.

The best advice that i can give anyone that is starting treatment for this type of cancer is explore your options and be true to yourself.

Sometimes the road to recovery is hard but, if you have a family and especially children, it is worth the trouble when you are able to see your children grow up and become mommies and daddies themselves.

We are never promised a rose garden no matter what our situation may be we just have to make the most of what ever is thrown our way and become stronger for it.
